My new site is ready. Enjoy. There are a few colour issues that need sorting, perhaps you could give some opinion on them.

I have my results, now I know I won't have to return to school.

The goose congratulates on her results, and anyone else reading this who achieved high quality grades (for them).

New site in progress

Well, I'm making a new site at [link] You can see my progress. I'll make that, then I'm moving there along with my art. The gallery will be flickr, which will be cool.

  • Mood: Pretty good actually

Maybe it's just me but...

dav5 is not as good as it could be (that did say sucks, but I think that was a bit harsh). It's basically a reskinned version of the old one. The issues that really needed fixing were:
  1. The length of the submission process: This still takes about 5 pageloads, which is unacceptable in our web2.0 era. Also, there is no desktop client, which, for a site like this, would be fantastic.

  2. The awkwardness of the controls: I hate deviantart's layout as regards controls, I really do, it just doesn't seem straightforward to just click on something, there's always a new page to open, etc. etc, it's not logical and it makes me feel claustrophobic. Literally. Flickr is just so much better, with it's flash functionality. It's fast, it's to the point, and it's easy. This, on the other hand, is not, and the page is just so cluttered. Look at it, it's a violation. Thankfully, most people like minimalist design in this world.

I am assuming the inconsistent formatting is to do with the cache on my web browser or their server, not the site itself, so I won't slate them for it. OK, it isn't, I will slate them for it. You should have consistent formatting people, you can't just go around changing some of the backgrounds to light, and leaving some dark. I want 'em all light!
That said, I love the light backgrounds, I have said in the past a lighter background would show off the art better, the previous design was just so dreary. Pure white would still be better though. A neutral background is always best for art, but this is something, at least.
I am a web designer you know, so I do have some sort of authority to talk about this stuff. On the whole I agree with 's opinion.
Overhyped, and very slow. That's how I see it. I actually prefered the April Fool's joke. If they'd have had that layout, I'd have been happy (obviously, it'd have to be toned down a bit). It'd be dissappointing artistically, but it would work very well, which is far more important, as it's the art actually displayed on the site which is more important.

Cute Aggi Animals

Cocker Spaniels are the best dogs ever.

Just to clarify, it was my mother's 50th birthday on Wednesday, and our good family friends Gerrard and Ulrike O'Flaherty came around. They had a cocker spaniel. We are seriously considering getting one (as it turns out, they were just dog-sitting, but it's still a cool dog).

While were on the subject of cute animals, I've got other stuff to talk about:
I saw March of the Penguins today, which is a really interesting film, with great cinematography. This also has cute baby animals in it. Awwwww.... Baby penguins are so cute. It makes you want to hug them, but then you realise you'd have to be outside in sub-zero temperatures and no internet connection necessarily, which makes it less attractive.

Another thing is that I keep dreaming about my hamster, Aggi Chonsa (Baby Angel in Korean). I don't know why, but it about 3 times a week. I don't really dream about that much else. It's not as if I think about her that much. I very rarely dream about the things I think about a lot. Those who know my hamster know she's really cute, and can teleport. Seriously. It seems like that. She is so fast. It's a good thing the cage has a teleportation disruption field (not really, I know certain people who may read this are famous for their gullibility. You know who you are).

ACTUAL NEWS

I'm having serious trouble with my A Level choices. I don't know, they've just been completely screwed up because the government have removed funding for language teaching at A level, so Newcastle College no longer do German, which is what I most want to do. I don't know. God may be leading me in a completely different direction, perhaps I'm going to need more perseverence in the future, or maybe it's just a minor obsticle.

I was thinking of Sixth Form College, but my parents say they really want me to go to Newcastle if anywhere, because they don't think I'd do well at SFC, and they're probably right, knowing my parents. My mother's been slaving away on the phone trying to find some way for me to German, but so far, nothing. She's even asked Mr. Thunder if he good do tutoring :unimpressed:. That's how little there is.
